“Oh…” Emma hesitated, “I’m really not that keen on using spurs…” She mumbled, but to he honest, anything would do at this point in time.
She had been to busy trying to get Lily just go into the arena, that she hadn’t really seen the course, she was just going to have to do the best she could.
She lifted her legs and put on the spurs. She then turned Lily in a wide circle, nudging with her legs and tried again. She still stopped. “Hang on a minute, I think I saw a whip around there.” She said. She turned Lily yet again and picked up the whip that seemed to have just been left there. It was a good whip, but Emma didn’t really care who’s it was. She was just going to use it anyway.
She turned Lily again to try and go into the arena, but once again she wouldn’t go. She just jogged on the stop, sticking her ears back, still not responding to her leg aids, even her spurs. Emma tried ticking her on the neck with the whip, so she knew it would be there, but that still didn’t work. So Emma gave her a smack on the neck. It wasn’t sore or anything, to hurt her she would have to have done something drastic, and it wasn’t as if Lily was scared by anything, she was just napping.
Anyway, it worked. Lily walked on. She still had trouble entering the arena, lifting her feet up high as there was some obstacle that she had to step over. She flicked her back feet up and as walked over the line.
“Good girl.” Emma gave her a pat on the neck. At least she had done it in the end.

“Look, I don’t think I’ll be jumping a course, just popping over a few jumps. Lily’s got herself right worked up over nothing.” Emma smiled at Meredith.
The mare had got herself into a cold sweat napping over that line. Emma started to walk her round. She picked up canter and started to canter smoothly round.
Emma started approaching a straight bar. She sat up, squeezing lily on. Lily picked up the pace and flew over the jumped. Emma folded and allowed her mare her head.
She tried going over a double. She haft halted, slowing Lily down. Lily obeyed, but a few strides into the few bolted into it. Emma tried to catch her, to take control before she jumped it, but Lily flew over it too early, getting excitable. She was out of stride when she landed, but pricked her ears for the next fence. Emma sat up, so she wouldn’t knock the neck jump, for it was lightly that she was going to. Lily hesitated, stopping then starting, then she changed her mind and decided to do the fence, and took a huge leap. She took the top pole off the fence.
“Oh Lily. You’re just getting yourself in a muddle.” Emma said, leaning forward and stroking the mare’s neck. Lily chewed at the bit, starting to find this fun. She loved jumping. It was her favourite thing in the whole wide world. She especially liked it when things like this happened, for some reason. Emma just though it was because she got to take big leaps over things.
Emma trotted her mare round, sat to the trot and popped into canter in the corner. Emma got her into a nice bouncy canter. She turned from the F corner to do the straight bar fence that was to the H corner. Lily popped over it no problem.
Emma pulled up, thinking that maybe would be enough for tonight. She had only just arrived anyway, so it would be a bit unfair to ask a lot of her.
“I think I’ll just start cooling down.” Emma told herself.
She allowed the reins to slip through her fingers and Lily to stretch her neck. She scratched the mares withers, letting her relax.

| I'm on a high, I'm on a high there's nothing more to it. Meredith smiled. "Good job, Kiddo!" she said. "Nah, I get it, you guys have probably had an exhausting day. So all things considered, your making a good choice." she said, half smiling again. She took up some contact in her reins, putting pressure on his right flank, she leg-yielded over to the right, changing the song to another excellent one. Say Your Last Goodbye by God or Julie. Releasing her reins, she turned back, walking into the arena. Riding on the buckle now, she caught up with Emma and Lily. "Good job today." she said again with a sigh.
"Hey, I'm going into town to grab a bite to dinner. You could come, and afterwards, I could drive you around and show you all the good places to hang out." she offered, smiling.
We are the sea and the sky and the blue that runs through it. |

“Yeah, that would be great.” Emma said, smiling.
She leaned forward and patted her mare’s neck. Despite her nappy ways, she wasn’t too bad today. Anyway, it was a new place for both of them; maybe it just freaked her out a little.
Lily putted her neck to look at Ares. She stretched her neck out and sniffed him, right on the muzzle. Emma knew what this could end up as, some squealing fight.
“Hey, Lily. You’re such a flirt, you.” She laughed, gently pulling her head away. Ares didn’t seem all that bothered.
“Right.” Emma pulled up in between the jumps. “I best get back to the stables. I need to groom, muck out and feed for two.” She smiled at Meredith. “I’ll ride to the barn, if that’s alright with you. Do you want a couple more minutes in here? Or are you not fussed. I just better get feeding Abbie before she goes wild with hunger.”
Emma rolled her eyes sarcastically. Abbie was nuts about food, leave her for a minute with out food and she would go onto a terminal starvation posture. Then Emma realised, Meredith probably wouldn’t have seen Abbie yet. “Hey, you wanna come and see Abbs?”
OCC- I'm going to make a new thread in the roan barn, k?
