Emma ran into the yard were her two horses were standing her there stalls. “Hello girl!” Emma basically shouted, running past Lily’s stall.
She ran to the tack room, opening her tack locker. She grabbed her grooming kit and tack. She walked back to the stall, putting all her stuff down beside the stable door.
“Hello girl.” She said, giving the mare a polo and a scratch on the neck. Lily took the polo gently, giving out a great waft of mint as she chewed.
Emma took off her Newmarket rug, chucking it over one side of the stable. She grabbed a dandy brush and started brushing the mares sides, giving her a pat every now and then. She took two sponges and wipes the mares face and bum.
Emma the got a skip and her hoof pick and walked into the stable. She rubbed her hands down the mare’s neck, down to her shoulder, and down her leg. She started making a clicking sound with her tongue. “Up, girl.” The mare picked up her feet obediently. Emma started picking out dirt, cleaning the foot out and placing her hoot down. After doing the same with the rest of Lily’s feet, she painted the hooves with dark hoof oil.
Emma gave the mares mane a quick brush onto the right side, and then brushed her tail down.

In truth, Lily needed little grooming to make her look fab. Her coat shone in the sunlight.
“Best get you tacked up and ready to go!” Emma told her mare.
She put her tack on the door, so she could get to it easily. She picked up her fleece lined numnah and placed it on the mares back. She then picked up her show jumping saddle and placed it onto. She buckled the black gel girth onto each side, making it tight enough for her to get on, but loose enough for it to be comfortable for standing in the stall.
Emma then picked up her Dresden bridal. It had a grakle noseband and a dutch-gag bit on it. Lily could be fussy about accepting the bit, but was mostly fine (unlike Abbie who proved to be hell getting a bridal on.) “Right girl.” Emma said, standing at the mare’s side. “Lets get this bit in.” She warmed up the bit in her hand, and then let it rest in her palm. She lifted it up to her lips, easing it into the mare’s mouth. Today seemed to be a good day for Lily. “Good girl!” Emma pulled the headpiece over the mare’s ears so it sat comfortably. She did the throatlash and the noseband up. She then put on the mares running martingale. She also put on Lily’s leather fetlock boots.

"There we go!" She gave her mare a pat and a polo. "We're all ready to go!"
