Alea lead Arkan into the crossties as he knickered at a closeby filly. She clipped him up and went to get her grooming supplies from her designated box in the tack room. After returning to her horse with her things she started grooming him lightly with a dandy brush, being careful to rub all of his places. Legs, face, dock, hoof face, ears, and anything else she knew was uncompfortable for him when dirty. After that she dropped it into her grooming kit and stood up stretching her back. Alea went to work massaging Arkan's neck in small circular motions, moving down to his whithers, and then to where, if he had one, his dorsal stripe would be. The gelding held his head low in a compfortable position, his eyes completely closed. Alea wondered if he was actually sleeping, but when she reached for the hoof pick he opened his eyes. Arkan wasn't one to give her an easy time about his feet. He was very sensative and she was the only one he would even let get close to touching his hoofs. She picked one up slowly but surely and started away, removing the dirt and dried grass. After all four hoofs were done she towel-wiped his coat making it shine like a child's eyes at christmas time. Alea grabbed a sponge and dampened his dock to lower the fuzzy, short hairs that always stuck up. Then, she moved to his face carefully sponging around his eyes and nose, then his ears. She stepped back to admire her work while she put away her sponge in her supply kit. He looked absolutely georgeous! His chestnut body shone like the red, hot sun on a 100 degrees day. His black eyes looked like holes in his face they were so clear. She could see more than compfort in his eyes though. Whenever she talked to him, shared with him her secrets, and crooned to him he seem to resppond with his eyes more than anything his strength and speed could show. He had a heart, and a true one at that. She lead him to his stall (#3) and then hooked the stall net. She stood there staring at her colt, her OWN colt. He loved her and she loved him, but Alea wondered how much he loved her. Would he really come through if something terrible happened to him? Would her love for him keep him strong? She shook the thoughts from her head as she remembered she hadn't cleaned up.
Alea jogged over to the crossties packing up her grooming supplies and took them to the tack room. After stuffing the kit back into her box she grabbed a handful of hay and dropped it into Arkan's stall. "There ya go boy." She said as she left the barn for the night. She knew the stable hands would feed any of the horses that don't get fed for any reason. Maybe their owner was late, or at a class, or even somewhere where they couldn't reach the owner. Either way it was the hand's jobs so she always made sure they had something about Arkan to do. She looked back at the barn and then started, once again, towards the dorms.
